Hello everyone. I couldn't sleep tonight so I made some updates to the BOOM! Servers.

HIGH PING KICKER UPDATES: I discovered the High-Ping Kicker we were using was broken. The other one we also use occasionally was broken as well. This was probably due to updates made by Valve to the Source Game Engine a while back. I have since reconfigured all of our systems to use a new High-Ping kicker. The new one looks very promising and even warns players several times before they're kicked so they now it's coming. I have set the plugin to kick players with a ping consistently over 250ms. This may seem a bit high to some of you, but in most cases Source games do fine for people with that amount of latency and since a lot of people from Europe play on our servers (late at night for USA players), I don't want them to suffer too much. If it needs to be lower we'll look at that, but considering it hasn't worked for weeks and few complaints have come in, I think it's probably good at 250ms.

SIMPLE SPECTATE PLUGIN INSTALLED: I installed a new plugin that assists players while spectating other player and potential cheaters. The plugin comes with a GUI and text menu and allows players to follow other players and get more details about them without having to run a bunch of other console commands. It also allow them to report a player as a cheater. The author is working on integrating it with our Sourcebans banning system as well so submitting player bans will be seamless using spectate mode. I'm still tweaking this system and hope to have it done in the next couple of days. I'll keep you posted on this, but you will already see things a bit differently when you go to spectate mode.

ADMIN-CAM (SOURCETV) SLOTS REDUCED: We were running our Admin Cameras at 50 slots, which is ridiculous and a waste of server resources. I have reduced these to 5 now, which should be plenty.

NEW GUNGAME MAPS COMING: As if 120 maps already isn't enough, I have about 20 new Gungame maps to test and plan to install them soon. I'll make a new thread or update the old one when I'm done. I'll grab some people to test them when I'm ready.

RESERVED SLOTS WITH CUSTOM SKINS COMING IN TWO WEEKS: I plan to activate reserved slots on our servers for people who donate money. In exchange for their donation, donors will be guaranteed a spot in the server and be able to wear a custom player uniform showing they support our servers. Only donors will get the optional skin, and with the our money woes, I can use all the help I can get.

DONATIONS STILL NEEDED: We really need help to pay for our services guys. I know I sound like a broken record, but if you can donate, even a little, you would really be helping the community. No amount is too small. With all I have on my plate right now, the costs are becoming unbearable for me. We are still looking at buying our own server, which I will pay for, but the monthly costs are killing me and we will still have those to a lesser degree if I own the server.

I think it's probably good at 250ms.

I feel that it is worth mentioning that anything over 300 will get kicked by Kigen's Anti-Cheat when it queries the client randomly.

There was a guy from India playing GG today for over an hour with a ping of 364. He never got kicked until I installed the new plugin.
