Hey guys, Ive been thinking about how to get BOOM! some more money to pay for the fees for the dedicated box, website, and other fees.  I noticed BOOM!'s scrim server is almost always empty and how renting out the scrim server for an hour or two at a time could generate income to help pay for the fees BOOM! Gaming faces every month.

That's a good idea. I have always offered this by word of mouth and actually posted it on the website for a while. No one was interested or didn't read about it. We have plenty of room on our dedicated California server. I can build multiple servers if need be and run them at 100-tick and 1000-fps.

If you know anyone who would like to do it, refer them to: support@boomgaming.net and I'll gladly rent them a server.

you could rent them out for like 10 a month and if more and more people start to use it and their scrim's become popular, raise the prices so that the quality stays the same (since there's a limited space for the number of servers if its very popular, if they arent so popular you could run a whole bunch of them)

10 a month is not really that much money considering the bandwidth the server uses, I saw a website where once you buy a timed amount for the server then you get a link send to your email and you click the link and it contains the server's ip and password and after 2 hours the password will automatically change and kick everyone.

yes, but 10 a month for dedicated times (say 4 hour slots to start with) is a good price, and you have to sell low to start and get some popularity

Look at this:

http://www.gameservers.com/free/

This beats just about anything we could come up with unless we did some major coding work. Personally, it's not worth the extra work if you ask me. I'll be glad to help people use a server for a few bucks here and there, but I don't wanna go crazy to get just a few bucks each month.

My friend said he might be able to get a system and mod on the server the managers could control on the website.  He said if he can get it it is very easy to setup less than 10 minutes for the server and 5 minutes for the website.  The features the managers could control online include change server password every certain amount of time, kick people, and turn off the server.  If he can get it, it might be worth it since it requires very little time to setup each match, just kick people off after their time and add a new server password.

Sounds interesting bud. Keep me posted. We currently use TCAdmin to control our servers. It's by far the best Game server panel available right now. If it had the option to reset a servers password at pre-determined times. that would be sweet a sweet deal. I look forward to hearing how it goes with your friend. Thanks for looking into it.
