Choppy/laggy performance can be a huge issue for some players. Many times it's caused by limitations with a player's video card. This is even more likely on most laptops and lower end PCs with on-board graphics cards. You can check your card's video performance by opening the developer console in CS: Source and typing "net_graph 3". A bunch of numbers will appear on the lower right hand corner of your screen when you close the console. One of these numbers is the "FPS" (video frames per second). Look at your FPS in de_dust2 then in an fy map. You'll see the de_dust2 FPS reading is probably below 20 for you most of the time. The fy_kingofthehill map FPS will likely be a lot higher. Anything below 15 is gonna make you really choppy and laggy. Below 10 and you can forget playing the map at all. Additionally, other players will hate you because they can't shoot due to your movement being so choppy on their screen. Most players' video cards are probably ok for fy maps and smaller, less detailed maps. But big maps with lots of detail like de_dust2 (which is one of the most detailed maps in CS:Source) will be a strain for any laptop or PC without a high performance video card like one of the higher-end Nvidia Geforce 8 series or newer or an ATI Radeon 9000 series or newer card. There are a few file downloads available on the BOOM! Gaming website that may help you. When you execute them, they "temporarily" change some of your CS:Source video settings that make it more playable. They do this by lowering some of the detail and content settings of the game but don't make things look so bad that it's not worth playing. Many people in your shoes have had good results with them. Click the "Support" dropdown menu and select "Download Area" on the BOOM! Gaming homepage and try a few. The instructions on how to use them are listed there as well. Your settings will return to normal when you exit CS:Source and you will have to execute the file again when you want to use it. The file is saved on your PC for future use. Good Luck, Mav

lol.
De_Dust2 - 1-3 FPS (That's One To Three)
Fy_Funtimes - 20-30 FPS(Highest I get is like 40 on ANY map)
Also, I tried an autoconfig once.. and hated it.. Couldn't use sprays, couldn't use ingame voice.. tried to get rid of it now I can't change my spray and I still can't use ingame voice.. :\ I know reinstalling would fix it but I'm lazy lol.

luckily i'm pro enough that i don't need to do those anymore, your best bet is just get another graphics card. they don't cost all that much and at best a cheap one for 50$ would get you decent graphics and ok fps

I agree with the spyware idea. Always check your registry.. I know mine by heart. It takes awhile but its the easiest and most frequented spot for malicious software, and other software thats not necessarily malicious but ad ware none the less. I have posted some new info on lag, it may help. I would like to know if you have resolved this issue.
