Either has to do with the server crashing your game. Or your system crashing the game. Happens from time to time. Could be a steam Issue aswell.

BTW you have a very clean desktop

This is because your card is using old world textures in some maps and your OS is having problem resolving a software conflict.
Microsoft HL2 will have to resolve this issue.
Unfortunately Im afraid it is a misdiagnosed hardware issue.  And will only be resolved when the hardware is phased out.
Any time you get a fatal apps error retain where it happened then enter that server again with your developers console down and you will see paragraphs of red text explaining the details of the error before you actually encounter it and the HL2 app crashes.

First, I recommend you update your video card drivers to the latest version through the video card vendor's website.

I want to preface the next part by saying, it's very rare for me to suggest this, but I feel the what I am suggesting below is worth a try in your case.

After the video driver update is done unistall CS: Source using the Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs option. Once the game is removed, restart your PC.

After that, go back in and download CS: Source from STEAM again. Sometimes reinstalling software, especially when there is a driver conflict as Rabbitini suggests, is a good idea. Doing this may allow the software to reset and reload itself using newer and better hardware settings that work correctly.

Please let us know if this fixes it. It will take a little time, but if it does work, it will have all been worth it!

Regards,

This could be a memory issue. Could have to replace if one is bad or it could be fixed as simple as a full shutdown and reboot.

A fresh boot could postpone the problem.  Allowing you to play longer.  Unfortunately not resolve it.  It could be a bad chip too.  If you are preloading textures to memory in your config.

Try these in colsole:
 cl_forcepreload "0"
 mat_trilinear "0"

TOPIC TITLE: ERROR: AppName: hl2.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: datacache.dll ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00008a37

Guys,

Are you both having this only on the Crackhouse Server, or all servers? I fear you are running Vista, as this is a common issue on Vista PCs from Dell. There are many people having this problem, and there are many different causes.

The first thing to do is to run all the Windows Updates. Goto Start--> Windows Update and run them all! The try it out. There have been updates to address this issue that may fix your problem.

If that doesn't do it, I've listed some threads for you to review. Try their fixes, one at a time and see if any of them help. Then report back so we know. If you do more than one, you may never know what caused the problem, and that 's important. Don't forget to report back. We want to fix this for you and if something works for you, we want to share that with others too.

Be patient, these things take time and a little patience, but if you stick with it, you'll get it. Let us know how it goes.
